The memorial service marking the 10th anniversary of the death of Princess Diana got underway in London today with a reading by Prince William.
Around 500 Guests attended the ceremony at the Guards Chapel near Buckingham Palace. Although members of the public were not invited, hundreds gathered outside. Admirers of the late princess have tied flowers and cards to the gates of Kensington Palace - her former London residence - as they did in 1997 after her death.
Mohamed Al Fayed, father of Diana's boyfriend Dodi, who was also killed in the crash, was not invited, but his daughter Camilla did go and as previously reported in the press, the wife of Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, did not attend.
Prince Harry said she was "the best mother in the world". His mother's death was "indescribably shocking and sad", and changed his life and that of his brother forever.
